Insurance & Accounts

Brunswick Private Hospital has agreements in place with most major health insurance funds. Under these agreements, for most major health insurance funds, you are not required to pay the portion of your account that is covered by your health fund, as we will claim these benefits on your behalf.

Private Health Insurance

Brunswick Private has contracts with the majority of health funds. We will verify your insurance prior to your admission.

You may find that your health fund does not fully cover your stay and that an out of pocket balance may occur. You will be informed of this prior to admission.

Estimated out of pocket expenses are payable on or shortly after admission.

You are not required to pay the portion of your account that's covered by your health fund as we will claim benefits on your behalf.

As part of the hospital's policy on informed financial consent, you'll be provided with an estimate of expense form and asked to sign this form as part of your admission.

Self-Insured Patients

Self-insured patients are required to pay an initial deposit based on an estimated length of stay, weekly in advance. The admissions co-ordinator will provide you with further information about this requirement as part of your admission process.

Department of Veterans' Affairs

Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) patients do not need to have their admissions approved prior to admission to the hospital, as Brunswick Private is a Tier 1 facility.

Accounts for DVA patients will be sent directly to the DVA for payment.

DVA patients are responsible for phone calls made to mobiles, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) numbers. Local calls are free.

See DVA for information about veteran services at Brunswick Private Hospital.

Workers Compensation

Workers Compensation patients need to have their claim approved prior to admission to the hospital.

Your account will be sent directly to the insurer for payment.

Please note you will be responsible for phone calls made to mobile, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) numbers. Local calls are free.

Other Charges

After you leave hospital, you may receive bills for other charges incurred during your stay that are not the responsibility of the hospital. They are therefore charged separately, and may include fees relating to:

  • Medications not related to your admission or diagnosis
  • Calls to mobile, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) numbers
  • Pathology or Radiology investigations
